Venus RGB 18th Jan 2009

Venus in RGB, very poor seeing.
2x barlow lens screwed onto the end of the DMK, so it's about 1.5x mag.

... and with a green filter and 3x barlow.

Venus 17th Jan 2009

A quick Venus from early this evening.
There's gonna be a storm tonight, so I've battened down the hatches on the observatory, i.e. screwed the roof down ;-)

Venus.

Good seeing tonight; C9.25, 3 x TV barlow, DMK21AF04AS, red & blue filter.

Saturn

There isn't much banding on this image, because to be honest there wasn't much seeing :-(
It's supposed to be -10°C in some parts tonight.

Copernicus

Using 4x Imagmate.
The seeing was really bad after this, I think the jetstream is right overhead.
I went out about an hour later and it was worse.

Celestron Telescope Catalog.

There's a picture of my scope in the new Celestron Telescope Catalog. Left centre.

Saturn 6th Jan 2009

Red filter, 3x TV barlow. Work in progress.

Pitatus and Copernicus.

I knew there was some good seeing amongst all the rubbish!

The Moon 5th Jan 2008

Odd seeing tonight, the image was bouncing around all over the place, and the focus was very strange at times.
This is a two image mosaic, shot with my Canon 400D at prime focus.

The Moon.

Couldn't resist a quick shot of the Moon, while I was getting frozen. Wow! everything metal stings to touch.

I forgot to set the ISO to a low value, so this picture was shot at 1600 ISO. It's a bit grainy, but moody.

Venus 3rd Jan 2009

Two images of Venus taken with different camera's, but the same setup.

M81

Bodes galaxy from early this morning session. 34 x 2 min exposures. C9.25 prime focus.
It was really cold last night -3°C.

Venus 2nd Jan 2009

It's incredible how bright Venus is in the daytime, even with a 32mm EP, easy. Just about see it through the finderscope though, my finderscope is fixed focus and it's out of focus, well to my eyes at least.
Funny to see it with a blue background, looks just like a tiny last quarter Moon.
Here's a rough simulation that I made in CS3:-

I had to align my GOTO on the Moon and then use it to 'GOTO' Venus, it was almost spot on. I must align my scope one of these days ;-)
Below; C9.25, 2.5x TV Powermate, Astronomic blue filter.
