Jupiter from HST

Hubble Space Telescope image of Jupiter.

Jupiter 27th April 2006

Quite good seeing tonight, this is the first time that I've managed to get any detail from capturing Jupiter.
I think that's the Red Spot Jr. I haven't seen any up to date images on the web to confirm. Looks like it may be joining up with another storm to the right of it.

Enceladus & Dione - Cassini image

In this Cassini image, bright Enceladus (505 kilometers, 314 miles across) is in front of Dione (1,126 kilometers, 700 miles across). The image was taken with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on March 3, 2006, at a distance of approximately 2.6 million kilometers (1.6 million miles) from Enceladus and 2.7 million kilometers (1.7 million miles) from Dione.

Jupiter 2nd April 2006

Not having a lot of luck with Jupiter. It's very low in the sky, the roof of my shed actually obscures part of the disk, but I'm finding it tricky to capture. Here's a prime focus image.
There are three moons present.

Saturn 1st April 2006

Very gusty tonight. I have reduced these images to 80% from normal to improve their look.
The first image of 19:15 was taken prior to collimating. I spent 20 minutes tweaking the collimation. You can see the difference between the 19:15 and 19:40 image and the rest.
First two were taken with a 2 x Barlow, and the later one's with a 2 x Barlow and a Barlow extension tube.
Just after finishing the last capture, the clouds rolled in... and that was that.

Time to open the booze... well it is my 29th wedding anniversary ;-)

OT pic.

This is incredible, someone has rendered! this image taken from the Apollo 11 moon walk.
